Software and the Human Genome

After more than a decade at Microsoft, Don Rule set his sights on the impact of the digitization of the human genome and the role software could play in turning genomic data into actionable recommendations for better health outcomes. Then, in 2009—after seeing firsthand how laboratories were suffering without the right technology to advance pharmacogenomics—Don founded Translational Software® with the goal of enabling healthcare providers to realize the promise of precision medicine.

Today, Translational Software's Precision Health Nexus connects laboratories, healthcare organizations, and even healthcare IT organizations to accelerate the use of genomic data for smarter, more comprehensive healthcare solutions.

Don founded Translational Software® to accelerate the use of molecular diagnostics. Prior to this he had a 14 year career at Microsoft, holding a variety of roles in providing Internet access to MSN, pioneering Virtual Private Networking products, and integrating Instant Messaging with Voice Over IP networks. Don founded the BioIT Alliance from within Microsoft to accelerate collaboration in translational research.

Houda is an entrepreneurial scientist with deep experience in pharmacology and pharmacogenetics. At the University of Washington, she co-developed two knowledge-based technologies, a drug interaction database (DIDB) and a pharmacogenetics database (e-PKGene©). Both leverage revenue-based funding and are widely used by pharmaceutical companies, regulatory agencies, and academic institutions worldwide.

Kelli comes to Translational Software with 20 years of record breaking sales, marketing and business development in the healthcare IT industry. Working for large and small vendors, Kelli’s niche is catapulting small company sales by doubling revenue and opening new markets. Specifically, she led iSirona’s sales to over $15M in less than a 24-month period setting the value for iSirona to be purchased from Nant Health for $61M.

Kelli received her undergraduate degree from Northeastern University in Boston. In her spare time, Kelli enjoys an outdoor active lifestyle with her spouse, playing with her 3 dogs, Nilla, Pinto and Hattie Lou. Additionally, she has competed in triathlons nationally and international; completing to 2 full ironman distances in Los Cabos, Mexico (2014) and Venice, Italy (2016).

David is a Clinical Pharmacologist that specializes in Pharmacogenomics who is also a Certified Clinical Research Coordinator. He completed his Clinical Pharmacology Fellowship at Indiana University School of Medicine, under the tutelage of his mentor Dr. David A. Flockhart, MD, PhD. David is currently actively updating The Flockhart Table ™ at the IU SoM as its lead curator. He has a background in analytical chemistry from Virginia Tech and was the lab manager for the Clinical Pharmacology Department at Georgetown University before returning to school to obtain his PharmD at Shenandoah University. Besides his academic credentials, he has also work at a CLIA certified Pharmacogenetics testing lab using Translational Software’s API in clinical patient care.
